Announcement of Competition Results: The competition results will be announced on a specified date. All winners will receive a notification of the competition results and instructions for collecting prizes (if applicable) via email prior to the public announcement.
The Tung Chung Line Extension project will involve the use of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to drill a tunnel which connecting the current Tung Chung Station to the future Tung Chung West Station. According to the tradition of tunnel construction, the TBM must be named prior the commencement of the project to wish the project success.

Terms and Conditions
The Tung Chung Line Extension Tunnel Boring Machine Naming Competition (“Competition”) is organised by MTR Corporation Limited (“MTR” or “we”) and will take place during 29 June – 31 Oct 2024. All the participants of the Competition are herein referred to as “Participants” or “You”. Your registration for participation and/or continued participation in the Competition constitutes your agreement to comply with and be bound by the terms and conditions below.
- The Competition is open to all Hong Kong residents. However, employees of MTR who are involved in organising the Competition, and all members of the adjudication panel as well as their immediate relatives are not eligible to participate in the Competition. MTR reserves the right to declare any Participant ineligible.
- Each Participant may submit a maximum of 1 naming suggestion. If Participants submit more than 1 naming suggestion, MTR will only accept the first naming suggestion and disqualify the others.
- The Participant warrants that the submitted entry does not infringe any trademark, tradename or copyright of any person. The Participant also warrants that the entry has never been published or submitted in other competitions, and does not contain any offensive, defamatory or libelous materials. The Participant will be liable for any infringement of intellectual property rights regarding the submitted entry. The Participant shall at all times indemnify and keep MTR indemnified from and against any and all claims incurred or suffered by MTR to the extent such claim alleges or establishes that the Participant infringes any third party’s intellectual property in its submitted entry.
- By entering the Competition, Participants agree that all the intellectual property rights in the naming suggestions shall vest in MTR absolutely. For the avoidance of doubt, the Participants agree that MTR may translate, edit, exhibit, copy or duplicate and display any or all of the naming suggestions on its websites or use the naming suggestions for whatsoever purpose at any time, without the need to obtain prior consent from the Participants. MTR reserves all rights whether to use or not to use or stop using any naming suggestions at any time at its absolute discretion. The Participants hereby waive their moral rights.
- The adjudication panel will assess the entries in accordance with the criteria of creativity, relevance to the Tung Chung Line Extension project and the relevant communities and reflecting the characteristics and features of Tunnel Boring Machines. Participants must abide by the decisions of the adjudication panel. In case of any disputes over the competition results, the decisions of MTR and the adjudication panel shall be final and binding on all parties and cannot be appealed against.
- MTR shall not be held responsible for the failure of any entry submission by Participants, and assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, failure, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries.
- MTR reserves the right to verify the validity of entries, prize claims and Participants (including a Participant’s identity or age). MTR may disqualify any Participant who submits an entry or prize claim that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions, or who tampers with the entry process. An entry that is incomplete, indecipherable, illegible, contains offensive language or is non-compliant with these terms and conditions is invalid and will not be accepted or considered.
- The Participant warrants that all information submitted is true and correct, and there is no fraudulent use or theft of data from any third party. The Participant will be disqualified and/or will not be given the prize if his/her information is untrue or incorrect. MTR shall have no liability whatsoever if MTR could not notify the winner as a consequence of incorrect information. The Participant shall be held liable for all losses and damage caused to MTR or any third party.
- All prizes must be collected on or before the date stated on the winning confirmation email to be sent to the winners, otherwise they will be forfeited. The winning confirmation email and a valid identity document or proof of identity for verification showing the winner’s Chinese or English name is required upon prize collection. If winners cannot collect their prizes in person, the assigned person needs to present the winning confirmation email, an authorization letter and a copy of the winner’s identity document for prize collection.
- To accept the prize, each winner (or their parent or legal guardian if applicable) must sign a release form provided by MTR:
a. in the case of parents/guardians, accepting full responsibility for the winner in respect of the prize;
b. allowing the winner to be filmed and photographed at the prize presentation ceremony for MTR’s marketing and communications purposes and for use on MTR’s website, social media channels and promotional materials. - Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. Upon collection of prizes, MTR Corporation Limited will not compensate for any lost, damaged or stolen prizes.
- No failure, delay, relaxation or forbearance on the part of MTR to enforce any of these terms and conditions shall operate as a waiver and no single or partial exercise or enforcement of these terms and conditions by MTR shall preclude MTR from any future exercise or enforcement of these terms and conditions.
- By participating in the Contest, you agree to MTR’s use of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy Statement and our Personal Information Collection Statement provided in the Entry Form .
The Participants agree to indemnify and hold MTR and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and employees, harmless from and against any losses, claims, liabilities, damages, demands, costs and expenses (including all legal fees), incurred or suffered by MTR in connection with or arising from the Participants’ breach of these terms and conditions and/or the Participants’ participation in the Competition. MTR may, if necessary, participate in the defence of any claim or action and any negotiations for settlement. No settlement that may adversely affect our rights or obligations shall be made without our prior written approval. MTR reserves the right to assume exclusive defence and control of any such claim or action.
All Participants agree that MTR shall have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind which may be suffered by the Participants in relation to the acceptance, possession, or use of the prizes. The Participants further acknowledge that MTR does not give any warranty, representation, or guarantee expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relating to any of the prizes, including (but not limited to) their quality, mechanical condition or fitness for purpose of use. - By entering the Competition, Participants will be deemed to have read, accepted and agreed to abide by the rules and regulations, requirements, and terms and conditions contained herein. Any violation may result in disqualification of the Participant. All information as announced in the Website concerning the Competition shall be deemed effective and shall be binding upon all Participants. In case of any dispute over the rules and regulations, requirements, terms and conditions, behaviour, competition results and matters related to the Competition, MTR reserves the right to give the final verdict without advance notice or discussion. The decision of MTR shall be final and binding on all parties. No objection will be entertained.
- The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance shall not apply to the terms and conditions herein.
- These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in all respects in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (“Hong Kong”). The parties hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
- These terms and conditions are in English and Chinese and in case of discrepancies between the English and the Chinese versions, the English version shall prevail.
Personal Information Collection Statement
Your supply of Chinese or English name, email address and contact number collected in this form is required for enrolling the Tung Chung Line Extension Tunnel Boring Machine Naming Competition. If you fail to provide the information, then you will not be able to enroll in the Competition. The information will only be disclosed to other parties or authorities with your consent, as stated in our Privacy Policy Statement (https://www.mtr.com.hk/en/customer/main/cust_privacy.html), or where permitted under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. All information collected will be destroyed three months after the date of result announcement. You have the right to request access to and/or correction of your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and any such request should be made in writing and addressed to the Personal Data Privacy Officer of the Legal-General Department at MTR Headquarters Building, Telford Plaza, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
