The new Hong Kong-bound track section connecting Tung Chung East Station will commence service in the third quarter of this year, and the associated diversion works have entered the final stage.

Following the completion of signalling system renewal earlier this year, the project team has utilized the non-traffic hours to carry out more than 40 nights of dynamic train test in phases. Each night after passenger service hours, teams worked within a critical two-hour window across 10 testing locations, including the Hong Kong-bound track, signalling equipment rooms and the Operations Control Centre in Tsing Yi. Trains departing from Tung Chung Station were routed onto the new track alignment via Tung Chung East Station to conduct signalling and communications tests.

These tests help ensure safe, seamless and reliable operations in preparation for the next stage of trial operations, keeping the project on track for commissioning of the new track section in the third quarter.
