Community Activities

Engaging with the Community

On 16 March, the Tung Chung Line Extension team set up a game booth at the Occupational Safety Fun Fair co-organised by local organisations T & E Association Limited and Islands Harmony, where the team interacted with residents of Tung Chung West. Many families, elderly residents and children participated in the tunnel boring machine puzzle game, deepening the understanding of Yat Tung and Mun Tung estate residents about the Tung Chung West Station and tunnel construction, and getting to know the importance of personal protective gear such as safety helmets, reflective vests, and safety shoes for engineering personnel.

Dragon Boat Festival Celebration

The Dragon Boat Festival ornament workshop was successfully held on 21 and 24 May at the Salvation Army Lam But Chung Memorial School and the Tung Chung Line Extension Information Centre in Ma Wan Chung Village, respectively. The event was jointly organised by the Tung Chung Line Extension team, the non-profit organisation operating the information centre, and MTR volunteers, attracting enthusiastic participation from students and community residents. Participants created dragon boat ornaments with help from the project team and volunteers, and learnt about the traditional culture and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. The event was well received, promoting community exchange and fostering greater public appreciation of local festive heritage.

On 23 May, the project team participated in the Dragon Boat Festival event organised by the Tung Chung Living Network and Islands District Council member Lau Chin Pang, distributing rice dumplings to residents of Yat Tung and Mun Tung estates to celebrate the traditional festival. Some residents reached out to learn about and express support for the Tung Chung Line Extension project, strengthening ties with the community.

Site Visit by ICRR Delegation to Promote Professional Exchange

The project hosted delegates from “The International Conference on Roads and Railways 2025 (ICRR2025)” on 14 June. The project teams shared the latest construction progress and had in-depth exchanges on their practical experiences in applying innovative technologies to a major infrastructure project.
