Facilitating the Second Critical Turnout Installation under the Tung Chung Line Extension Project
Train Service between Tung Chung and Sunny Bay stations Ends Earlier on 19 April
The Tung Chung Line Extension project is taking forward the major track diversion works, including the installation of a total of four turnouts, connecting the existing Tung Chung Line tracks to the future Tung Chung East Station in phases. The second critical turnout installation will take place late at night on 19 April (Saturday) this year on the Hong Kong-bound track east of Tung Chung East Station.
As with the first turnout installation in October last year, the train service between Tung Chung and Sunny Bay stations will end two hours earlier that night at around 11 PM, to allow sufficient time to complete a series of installation processes and tests.
The train service between Hong Kong and Sunny Bay stations will remain normal until the usual end of service time. The Airport Express train service will not be affected.
Tips for a smooth journey to and from Tung Chung by MTR during the service adjustment:
• Free shuttle buses will run between Tung Chung and Sunny Bay stations during the service adjustment, the arrangements will be similar to those during the first service adjustment in October last year. The Corporation will announce further details.
• Start your journey earlier and allow more time for your trip.
– The shuttle bus journey will take about 20-30 minutes, longer than the train journey. Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their trip.
– Passengers departing from Tung Chung Station who need to transfer to the last train of another railway line should begin their journey earlier that evening to ensure a smooth and successful transfer.
• Use MTR Mobile to plan your trip.
– Passengers can use the MTR Mobile app to plan their trip ahead and get the latest Tung Chung Line service information.
Similar to the arrangements last year, passengers will be informed of the service adjustment information in advance via mega posters that will be put up at stations along the Tung Chung Line, announcements in stations and trains, news media and the MTR social media channels. During the service adjustment, special signage and notices will also be displayed at the stations to inform passengers of the service adjustment, and additional staff will be deployed to assist passengers in taking the shuttle buses.
